Squadron 5 maintains and flies a 1984 Cessna 182R on missions as well as
numerous member-owned and rental aircraft. There are currently 6 member owned
aircraft in the squadron. The 182 is a fully instrumented and oxygen equipped
aircraft that is in a constant mission-ready state. It also contains radio
direction finding (DF), and VHF/FM communications equipment and a panel mounted
GPS. CAP has more than 500 corporate (owned by CAP) aircraft located around
the country. In California, there are approximately 24 corporate aircraft,
mostly Cessna 182's and 206's, including Squadron 5's Cessna 182. Members may
also fly their own aircraft for CAP activities. Reimbursement for fuel, oil,
and maintenance is available for most missions.
