Tim Spiller in Remembrance
It is sad to report that Tim Spiller, an active member of squadron 5 for 29 years, has passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday October 1, 2009. He was surrounded by loved ones as he took his last breath here on this earth at the age of 89. He will always be remembered in the hearts of those who had the honor to know this great person.
Tim Spiller's Retirement
At the Dining out Tim Spiller received several awards and standing ovations as we salute his service to his country through the Marines and in the Civil Air Patrol. A presentation on his time in the service was given by him and his son. The video of his Fini Flight in the Civil Air Patrol was also shown to commemorate his retirement. Squadron 5 Change of Command
On January 6th, 2009 Major Shelby Ericson relinquished command of Squadron 5 and passed the torch to Captain Joe Alverio. Captain Alverio has many complicated tasks to take on in the next year. In the loom of a diminishing United States Economy, and a squadron financial struggle, he plans to keep the squadron afloat and make the squadron more mission ready . . . Full Story
